"What's going on?" - Marvin Gaye, 1971"Let me be clear: the tiny, mindless minority in our society who provoked violent disorder on our streets will be made to face the full force of the law" - Kier Starmer, 2024"There's not enough love and understanding" - Cher, 1991Much as I abhor any violence against any group of individuals, we have to understand what is creating the conditions for these horrible acts to happen. The only real way to address situations like this is to seek to understand. Simplistic thinking says the trigger event is the cause, but we know that what led up to it is where the root of the problem lies.1 in 7 people voted for Reform UK in the election. This represents a significant number of people who are feeling disenfranchised. We ignore this at our peril. If we want to build an inclusive society, we won't do it by excluding any faction. Everyone needs to be included - even those we violently disagree with. I violently disagree with the far right but wish them love and peace, and hope that they may themselves start to feel compassion for others. We won't disarm hate with more hate. Let's break the cycle. Injustice is an abuse of power. We see it on every level of society and found in every nation and community. What is horribly contradictory is that it's found in family units and 'close' relationships. In an ego-driven world we see more injustice then our minds can fathom. The ability to love, serve, care, defend, protect, nurture, and even sacrifice self for the good of another cannot become a lost art. A clarion call persists as our world continues to experience an epidemic of injustice. Not everyone has the position or platform to influence the laws of the land from the highest courts; but every one of us has the power of influence to impact the lives of those around us just by doing what is good. When that becomes our automatic ways of thinking, everyday will provide opportunity to model the way of everyday justice. #StopDevaluation #UnmaskingPrejudice #injustice #justice #HigherLivingLeadership #peoplematter

🃏 "April Fools' Day Reflections: Navigating Serious Issues with a Dash of Humor"🃏On this curious convergence of April Fools' Day (it's that day somewhere and today on that day 😁), and Black Almighty's Birthday, let's ponder: Could "Willy Wonka" hold the key to "The Lorax"? 🤔 Perhaps cocoa seeds indeed sprout chocolate trees! (And did you know, in a silly twist, the blue and red Spiderman suit design was inspired by a real spider's coloration? 🧐) Take my whimsical musings with a pinch of salt, for it's April 1st, after all!Amidst the sobering realities, the reinstatement of an officer involved in Elijah McClain's tragedy casts a somber shadow over justice. The $212,546 settlement and job return epitomize a system marred by impunity and disregard for life. It's not an isolated incident but a symptom of entrenched injustice.☕From the haunting specter of FGM to distressing cases of police brutality and abuse within entertainment, the call for accountability reverberates globally. The DOJ must heed this call, upholding fairness and dignity, lest impunity corrode public trust.Join the chorus for justice. Stand with Elijah McClain, demanding accountability and equity for all. #JusticeForElijah #DOJInvestigateNow #EndImpunity #BlackLivesMatterIn the face of persistent injustice, let's champion fairness, equality, and dignity. The DOJ, alongside civic bodies and concerned citizens, must ensure accountability prevails. Join the movement. Demand justice. Stand united. #JusticeMatters #MadeYouThink #DemandAccountability 🌟"Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness." - SenecaEngage in discourse. Explore diverse perspectives. VIOLENCE IN THE NAME OF THE CONFEDERACY: AMERICA’S FAILURE TO DEFEAT THE LOST CAUSE - https://lnkd.in/g4xnpdVhSince the immediate aftermath of the American Civil War, the United States has been plagued with its violent consequences. Following the Civil War, there was a rise of neo-Confederate hate groups who preached the “Lost Cause” ideology. To this day, these groups continue to plague the United States. The failure to invalidate the Lost Cause ideology, which drained the American Civil War of all historical context, has led to increased racial violence and a general inability to control the neo-Confederate hate groups that have gained traction and gall in recent years. Without swift action to counteract the violence perpetrated in the name of the Confederacy, the next storming of the Capitol could turn into the next civil war. Congress should enact legislation as Germany did in response to Nazi violence after World War II to curb the perpetuation of neo-Confederate and other hate-group-related violence in the United States. This Note utilizes a novel approach to the unique issue that Confederate imagery poses to the American public. It adds to the current literature a roadmap to aid in dismantling white supremacy in the United States. This Note also builds on the work of philosopher Susan Neiman and her book, Learning from the Germans, by calling on Congress to take action, switching the perspective to view the issue through a legal lens, and mimicking the structure of laws passed in post-War Germany.

Citizens holding public servants accountable is not partisan. It is American. To do less - for fear or favor - is wrong.Holding Biden accountable is not pro Trump, just as holding Trump accountable is not pro Biden. Those who would define Armenian American advocacy by the left/right divide of American politics will see every action or inaction by either side as a zero-sum proposition - reflexively hammering those they hate (despite positive steps they may have undertaken) and cheerleading their favorites (even when their actions are dangerous and destructive). We are not the Republican National Committee, we are not the Democratic National Committee, we are the Armenian National Committee. We confidently exercise our Constitutional rights as U.S. citizens and taxpayers – full stakeholders in our American democracy. The ANCA will continue to center Armenian American policy priorities - always demanding accountability - calling balls and strikes, based on the facts. Tirelessly advancing our issues on a plane above the divisive day-to-day discourse and angry diatribes that have sadly come to characterize the American political landscape.Aram Suren Hamparian

We have given our government a monopoly on violence.Since the renaissance, western culture has emphasized a compact.A deal. The people have the last word. Our institutions can make mistakes and get badly off track, and we will support them.We believe that democracy can be used to correct anything.Criminal courts can put people in cages. This is accepted as necessary violence for a government to enforce civil society. Now we have crossed a line and are using this violence against a strong candidate for president.Government violence is being used to interfere with democracy. Both sides will point to the other as the first offenders. It does not matter. We have crossed a line. This is not the first test of western institutions, and it will not be the last. Our society’s effectiveness depends on public support. What happens next is far more important than what has happened before.
