Resample

You can take a sample further and further from its original sound through resampling, turning it into something completely new. Try processing your sample through different plugins; distortion, modulation, delay. Once you have processed it, resample it and process it again – and again!

In general, a good sample size is one that accurately represents the population and allows for reliable statistical analysis. Larger sample sizes are typically better because they reduce the likelihood of sampling errors and provide a more accurate representation of the population.

Recreate the Music Sample

If you mimic or re-record sounds from another artist, you may be in the clear. This is a great solution if you cannot obtain sample clearance from the owner of the master recording. You still need permission from the music publisher because the song itself has a copyright.

Optimal temperature during transport is 4°C but the acceptable range for most sample types is less than 10°C (and above 0°C). Ice cubes keep samples colder and are more effective than ice packs. It is recommended to double bag ice cubes to avoid cooler leakage and potential cross contamination.

A work sample is a representation or document of your work. It introduces your art to the world in the form of still images, manuscript excerpts, sound and/or video clips. Length: The length or size of your work sample will depend on where you're sending it.

To legally use a sample, an artist must acquire legal permission from the copyright holder, a potentially lengthy and complex process known as clearance.

There is no time limit or maximum length to avoid clearance issues. There's a wide variety of myths around this subject: two bars, six seconds, short loops, one-shots… All of these are false. Simply put: there's no safe limit to sample legally without clearance.

Sometimes samples can sound too dry and “in-the-box.” One way to fix it is by capturing the sound of the sample playing in a room with a microphone. You can think of this technique a little bit like adding a subtle reverb plugin—but for real! A real room is often the most convincing reverb you can apply to a sound.

Researchers can control the danger of reporting false-negative or false-positive results by using larger sample sizes. The precision of the results will increase with the number of samples used.
