:thumbs:Didn't see one of these here, so I figured "why not"

meyerweb28th November 2009 18:36

Saturday morning 11/28, BJ's gas station in Fair Lakes, VA: A CR NC with black top. Anyone here? I went by in a CR NC2 with dune top.

Jake@JMU28th November 2009 21:06

Today (11/28) - played cat & mouse with a dark-haired woman in a black 1.8 NA, looked identical to mine, on Route 7 West. You turned off at a gas station in Winchester but gave me a wave and smile. Anyone?

shuiend29th November 2009 13:09

I spotted a Silver NA followed by a Silver/Grey/Metallic NC followed by a sexy black NA with a hardtop followed by a red NA and trailed with a black NB driving briskly on Joplin road.

hepcatz30th November 2009 18:58

So you were to distracted by those to notice the blue mica miata running away? =)

Claff3rd December 2009 18:57

Spotted a clean stock Montego NA with a wing on the trunk today in Mechanicsville MD. Did not return my wave as I was just starting to shiver during a top-down late afternoon fun run in the '99.

Bradley in DC3rd December 2009 19:17

There are lot of Miatae in my neighborhood of Capitol Hill in DC.

potentialmuscle873rd December 2009 22:38

i see a Copper red NC on my drive into work almost every day on 66 east towards fairfax from gainesville at around 6:30am if you're on this forum im in the white NC usually in the HOV or lately the mariner blue NA with a matching hardtop

y8s5th December 2009 11:57

still wanna know who owns the dark MSM and works on Sunset Hills in Reston.

AKADriver6th December 2009 20:32

I still want to know who has the 10AE in my neighborhood in McLean with the roll bar and LETS DNC license plate.

PrintError6th December 2009 23:16

I've seen LETS DNC before. Dunno who it is.

I spotted the 2.3L swapped NC today. It was in my parking lot with the hood up, and I was stealing its injectors.

NAautoxer7th December 2009 06:28

spotted; snow. out saturday morning all day.. some still around... please remove your snow from my property whoevers' it is. it is very cold..

dang it's early.. especially when you laugh out loud to your own post like i just did..

ChristianL14th December 2009 21:37

Passed a copper red NC PRHT this morning on Connnecticut Ave. while sitting in traffic in Kensington, and had a Titanium Mazdaspeed tailing me for a while coming home through Chevy Chase. Waved to both, but not sure that I got one back.

I was in the black, pavement-scraper NA. :D

MazdaSC15th December 2009 17:21

I pass a liquid silver PRHT NC2 in the driveway on Henderson Rd on my way to work everyday. Someone in a silver NC softtop came blasting up behind me last night on Wellington Rd just before I turned on to 28 south, you went north, I was driving a white Mazda 6.

Steve_A17th December 2009 13:08

'09 NC2, Silver PRHT in Kensington, off Plyers Mill Rd, 2 blocks from my house. Howdy, neighbor!

hepcatz26th December 2009 13:54

Red NA on 50 in between Chantilly and Fairfax. Fender vents and 4x4 on the rear.

dancalle26th December 2009 17:59

That'd be me. Buddy of mine alerted me to the thread. AKADriver, you must be the one with the smiley face on your car, yes? PrintError, I don't think I've seen your car, but perhaps it's track-only?

y8s27th December 2009 00:52

I'd like to happily note that I spotted my own car after seeing just a white lump of snow for a week.

Jake@JMU31st December 2009 21:17

Drove next to a titanium gray Mazdaspeed last night around 7, on Rt. 50 and 28 heading north. They're good looking cars in that color!

Yes!!! haha. got your winter wheels on, I see. :)

There's another NB guy in The Colonies with a roll bar and wheels from a '97 STO.

ChuckGardner3rd January 2010 13:29

I see quite a few Miata / MX5s. Mine is a True Red PRHT with "MX5 PH" Parrot Head plates.

I saw a Copper Red NC with tan top this morning in the church (Manassas AG) parking lot. I'd also frequently also see an older model black rag top in the parking lot at Broad Run Golf next door when it was warmer.

A neighbor up the street from me in Meadowbrook Woods off 234 has a green / tan rag top and I saw another Copper Head PRHT in a driveway on Meadowgate Dr. the other day but I haven't had the opportunity to say hello to either owner yet.

NAautoxer3rd January 2010 23:04

there are a lot of us in manassas at various times.. :)

AKADriver6th January 2010 16:55

Dunno if this quite meets the intent of the thread, but I just "spotted" a '93 LE on the WDC craigslist. Front lip seems to be missing, but the rare stuff (red interior, BBS basketweaves, rear lip) is all there.

Also seems to be a riced out '95 R with altezzas, style bar, and phatty sportmaxxxxxxes.

NAautoxer7th January 2010 06:16

yeah, and the LE is super freakin cheap! 2500!!!

i still would like to figure out who was rockin 0 offset and flares out my way on 66 in linden area.

a13n0rma110th January 2010 15:51

Who was on 7 between Tysons and Sterling yesterday? Got off on Cascades Parkway and I spotted you around Allsports when I turned off on Nokes...

I was in my Silver Forester... You'd remember me because my headlights are about aligned with your finish panel because it's so low

Saw the red NA on black wheels, flat black hood, trunk, and finish panel.

There was also a purple NB behind you on 7 for a while... sounded real burbly, had me intrigued but I couldn't line up to ask any questions :(

Newrad210th January 2010 17:31

Hey all,

I'm pretty new to the forum. Is there a NoVA Driving club around?

hepcatz10th January 2010 18:06

You bet! We arrange regular meet & drive events in NOVA mentioned in the other DC thread. You have CDC(capital driving club) which is an area autocross club, MSCW(mazda sportscar club of Washington) which is a mazda group that has meets, drives, tech nights & ax. CAR (Chespke area roadsters) is nearby. Folks on VA Driven board meetup. You also have wdcr/axinc involved with scca. There are other options as well. Depends on what focus and crowd you are looking for. Next MOnday we are meeting for some karting and food as a meetup also in conjunction with my b-day.

Slowkart11th January 2010 13:39

Spotted: Emerald Mica NB with tan soft top and cargo rack spotted on Adelphi Rd in Hyattsville, MD.

Honked at me as he drove by when I was fiddling with something on my NA.

Ha! My passenger and I were commenting on the slammed Forrester and the Miata with the hole in its exhaust on our way to AllSports in the red/black track whip. You spotted me, well played! :jump:

hepcatz14th January 2010 10:03

Red miata this morning, around 7, on 50 near ox road.

ChristianL14th January 2010 10:09

Copper red PRHT NC today on 97 just south of Olney. I tried to catch up, but was hampered by traffic. And I was even in the Miata today, too!

potentialmuscle8714th January 2010 19:26

black NB with tan top on 29 south in new baltimore today around 5:45 cute looking woman went back and forth in traffic a few times

BeerBurner14th January 2010 19:55

I should probably ask about the silver NB w/double hoop rollbar that I see all the time in the local Giant parking lot in Sterling and even chatted with the owner on occasion. Or, at least, I used to see all the time. Come to think of it in a bit...

BB.

Claff17th January 2010 17:44

Spotted a couple sad cases today in the rain in Waldorf

Black '99-00 with bra on front bumper and Speed Holes on the front fender. Ewww

Red NA that looked solid but in need of cosmetic TLC. Back window was missing from the soft top so I'm sure it's a real pleasure to drive both in the rain and afterwards.

NAautoxer17th January 2010 21:14

spotted; light blue 01+ NB in town.. oh wait.. i don't think you're on here.. :(

hepcatz17th January 2010 21:18

Lol, most of them aren't which makes doing this odd. maybe we should also leave the Mnet print out cards at least on any parked ones?

BeerBurner17th January 2010 21:20

To be honest, the main reason I posted was to make it easier to see this thread in case someone spots me. I'm egotistical like that and all... ;)

BB.

hepcatz17th January 2010 21:46

ROFL! So the same reason sometimes I leave my magnetic ax decals on a day or two extra... =)

PrintError17th January 2010 22:44

My stickers are vinyl, so I just rock the numbers year-round. Screw it. :P

BeerBurner18th January 2010 07:39

My fender chevrons help, too. I'll keep vinyl numbers on during the track season but will eventually take them off because I don't want to draw the wrong kind of attention. They did get me spotted on the local Porsche board, tho...

FAQs

Why is the answer always Miata? ›

The Miata is that friend who is always good at talking to the parents—sociable, reliable, and universally adored. Just like that same friend, the Miata can do no wrong. This has been the enthusiast's logic for nearly 33 years.

Is MX-5 Miata good? ›

Mazda's minuscule MX-5 Miata sports car may be small, but it packs a big, fun personality. This two-door droptop is a blast to drive thanks to its light curb weight and finely tuned chassis, the combination of which makes the MX-5 endlessly thrilling to drive on twisty back roads or challenging tracks.

Why is the Miata considered a girls car? ›

I think the Miata attained the “girl's car” reputation back when it first came out, because women saw it as a “cute new thing” and started buying it in huge numbers. This is the same reaction old people had to the Chrysler PT Cruiser. But years later, it's no longer the cute new thing.

What is the rarest Miata model? ›

The Club Sport is the rarest and most interesting Miata ever made, with less examples built than McLaren F1s or Pagani Zondas.

Which MX-5 engine is best? ›

On a route where you can rev the engine out, the 1.5-litre is an absolute joy and will allow you to sprint from 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds. However, if you need to overtake more frequently or prefer more mid-range punch, there's the 2.0-litre engine.

Which years of Miata are best? ›

Most Reliable Years for the Mazda Miata
  • 2003 Mazda Miata.
  • 2008 Mazda Miata.
  • 2010 Mazda Miata.
  • 2018 Mazda Miata.

Is there going to be a 2024 Miata? ›

The 2024 Miata is again powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine that makes 181 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. That meager power is routed to the rear wheels and is more than enough given the car's light weight. Unsurprisingly, the Miata delivers a fun experience behind the wheel.

Why do Americans say Miata? ›

The car was sold under 3 names depending on where you were. North America got Miata, Europe got the mx5, and because there was a bicycle company in Japan named Miyata and they didn't want to confuse people, Japan got the eunos roadster.

Why is the Miata so special? ›

The Performance of the Mazda MX-5 Miata

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a popular sports car that has been praised for its performance. The Miata has a lightweight body and a powerful engine, making it a fast and agile car. The Miata is also known for its excellent handling, making it a fun and exciting car to drive.

What is the significance of the Miata? ›

The MX-5 Miata is a symbol of Mazda's car-making philosophy, “Jinba Ittai,” which means horse and rider as one and expresses the type of fun-to-drive roadster engineers have intended to build since day one of the vehicle's inception.

What does Miata mean to you? ›

The name miata derives from Old High German for "reward".
