This harmful chemical really is lurking in almost all processed foods that we eat. Some common examples are soup, crackers, candy, lunch meat, bread, seasonings, bouillon cubes, and even many “health foods.” MSG is put into foods to enhance the flavor.If you really research MSG, you’ll find the FDA has classified it as safe.
This whole story of MSG and Chinese food came from a letter written in the 60’s, claiming adverse reactions to eating Chinese food with MSG.The primary role of MSG is to enhance the savory flavor of the food and make it taste more meaty. MSG is often found in cheaper meat products. To find out if a food contains MSG, look at the food label first.
Legislation requires that if monosodium glutamate has been added to a food, the label must declare this in the ingredients listing.If you suspect you’re one of those people, limit portions at the Chinese buffet and check processed food labels for monosodium glutamate. The verdict: Until research proves otherwise, MSG is.MSG is one of the most controversial ingredients on the planet.

This white substance is the sodium salt of L-glutamic acid, an amino acid that occurs naturally in food. Monosodium glutamate resembles salt or sugar and is tasteless when eaten solo.
